   What was Fairview Like in the 1880s?

   • Fairview in the 1880’s was a quiet residential area with a number of large houses owned by well-off citizens of Dublin who preferred to live away from the busy city of Dublin. The area was called ‘Baile Bocht’ in Irish or ‘Ballybough’ in English. A chapel was built here in 1819 and a bigger church was built in 1856.
