Cosma Spessotto, OFM (Spanish: Cosme Spessotto Zamuner) (28 January 1923 – 14 June 1980) was an Italian Catholic priest of the Order of Friars Minor. He was sent to serve in the foreign missions in El Salvador in 1950, where he aided the faithful through evangelization and the construction of churches.
On January 22, four Salvadorans murdered by death squads during the period of social unrest in the country several decades ago are to be officially recognized by the Church as “blessed” martyrs. Among them is a Franciscan friar, Fr. Cosme Spessotto, OFM.
Padre Cosma Spessotto, al secolo Sante Spessotto ( Mansuè, 28 gennaio 1923 – San Juan Nonualco, 14 giugno 1980) è stato un presbitero e francescano italiano; assassinato durante la guerra civile di El Salvador, è stato beatificato da papa Francesco nel 2022.
Sante Spessotto was venerated by Pope Francis on 26 May 2020, with a decree of martyrdom. Furthermore, on 22 January 2022, Pope Francis officiated Sante's beatification at the Plaza Divino Salvador del Mundo in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Santí Spessotto Zamuner (28 January 1923 – 14 June 1980) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member of the Order of Friars Minor. He assumed the religious name of Cosme upon making his solemn profession into the Franciscans and was sent as part of the missions to El Salvador in 1953

Jan 22, 2022 · Jesuit Father Rutilio Grande, two laymen and Franciscan missionary Father Cosme Spessotto are being beatified today in San Salvador. A close friend of St. Oscar Romero, Father Rutilio Grande, SJ, was killed by a paramilitary death squad in 1977 for speaking out for social justice.
