Igor Fokin (June 14, 1960 – September 21, 1996) was a Russian puppeteer and street performer. He learned his craft in his hometown of St. Petersburg. He moved from the former Soviet Union to Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the United States, in 1993.
For two years, Igor performed in Cambridge and became a main attraction in Harvard Square. The Russian puppeteer’s shows drew people from around the country. Audiences would come filled with curiosity, eager to see him and his marionettes.

THE LIFE OF IGOR FOKIN. LENINGRAD. Igor Fokin was born in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg. His parents were divorced, and he lived with his mother, grandmother and younger sister. Igor was very attached to his father and the divorce left him with an irreparable sense of loss.

I am a variety entertainer and a Harvard Square and Faneuil Hall street performer. For three summers, I performed right across the street from Igor and watched his show hundreds of times. The tribute and photo pages went online under my personal web site (www.smirk.com) in October of 1996, a few weeks after Igor passed away.
