Jay Thomas was a versatile performer who appeared in TV shows, movies, stage plays, and radio shows. He was best known for his roles as Jerry Gold on Murphy Brown, Carla's husband on Cheers, and the voice of Santa Claus in The Santa Clause trilogy.
