The Prussian Academy of Arts (German: Preußische Akademie der Künste) was a state arts academy first established in Berlin, Brandenburg, in 1694/1696 by prince-elector Frederick III, in personal union Duke Frederick I of Prussia, and later king in Prussia.
Founded in 1696, the Akademie der Künste in Berlin is one of the oldest cultural institutes in Europe. It is an international community of artists and has a current total of 404 members in its six Sections (Visual Arts, Architecture, Music, Literature, Performing Arts, Film and Media Arts).
The Academy was founded as the Prussian Academy of Arts in 1696 by King Frederick I as an academic institution and an intellectual forum for the exchange of ideas amongst artists and scholars. The original building, a private residence from 1734, became the home of Count Arnim-Boitzenburg in 1858.

Beginning in the 1690s, the Prussian Academy of Arts, under various names, served as an arts council and learned society for the Prussian government. Founded by the Hohenzollern elector Frederick III ( King in Prussia from 1701), it was the third-oldest such academy in Europe.
