The Wayback Machine is an initiative of the Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Other projects include Open Library & archive-it.org.
The Internet Archive allows the public to upload and download digital material to its data cluster, but the bulk of its data is collected automatically by its web crawlers, which work to preserve as much of the public web as possible.
There are a number of easy URL-based queries for conducting Advanced Searches on the documents in the Wayback Machine. To conduct these Advanced Searches, simply enter the following URLs in your browser's location or address bar. Retrieving the most recently archived copy of a specific URL.
