Rajagopala Kulashekharan or R. K. Shekhar (21 June 1933 – 09 September 1976) was an Indian music composer who worked mainly for Malayalam movies. He composed music for 52 films (23 in Malayalam with 127 songs), and was the music conductor for more than 100 films.

Jul 29, 2023 · R K Shekhar was a well-known music arranger and composer in Malayalam cinema. “He was so popular that people didn’t let him be even when he was hospitalized,” says Rahman. “He would compose music from his hospital bed, with a glucose drip in one arm, and a musical instrument in the other.”.
His father, R. K. Shekhar from a Mudaliar family, was a film-score composer and conductor for Tamil and Malayalam films. Rahman began studying piano at age four. He assisted his father in the studio, playing the keyboard.
