Dylan Schmid is the Canadian actor who portrays Baelfire on ABC's Once Upon a Time from Season One to Season Three.

Dylan Ray Schmid was born on March 7, 1999 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is the son of Sherri and Todd W. Schmid and has one older brother, "TJ" Todd Jr. As a child, Dylan was the jokester of the family with his ability to be dramatic and humorous in expression and movement.

At age six, he won an acting and modeling contest that gave him the chance to study at Kate Rubin Studios. From there, Dylan was hand picked for two short films with the Victoria Film School and took up a lead role in the mini series Gibson Gus with May Street Productions. From his continued interest in acting throughout the years as you grew up, Dylan began attending theater classes at the Kaleidoscope Theater. He enjoyed doing many monologues; with one of these being Shakespeare and was later chosen for the role of Prince of York in eight summer performances with the Victoria Shakespeare Society. He also played two roles at McPherson Theater in The Hobbit'.

Soon after, Dylan gave two stand up comedy monologues for his school talent show that were well received. By October, Dylan was chosen for a lead supportive silent role with the Pacific Opera Society in a play called Rodelina where he played Rodelina's son Flavio. By age eleven, Dylan auditioned for, and was awarded, a two-week intense acting course with Young Actors Studio director Patrick Day and Nora Eckstein in Los Angeles at the Australian Institute of Performing Arts in 2010. He received good reception and was called up to audition for several top agents of Los Angeles such as Amanda MacKay Johnson, Melissa Berger Brennan, and the Clear Talent Group. Dylan was picked up by Clear Talent Group but on returning to Canada, was later picked up by agent Stacey Ando from the Characters Talent Agency and has since been very busy doing several auditions for Canadian-based television and film.

Besides his recurring guest starring role on Once Upon a Time as Baelfire, Dylan has been on an episode of television series Fringe. At thirteen, he acted in the lead for R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour followed by principal, supporting and leading roles in the feature films Kid Cannabis, The Ferret Squad and Horns.
