Veslemøy Ruud Zwart studerte juss, kriminologi og statsvitenskap ved Universitetet i Oslo. Hun var midt i en hovedoppgave om den private fengselsindustrien, da hun flyttet til Los Angeles i 1998. Ruud Zwart hadde allerede medvirket som produsent på flere av Harald Zwarts reklamefilmer og da hun ankom Los Angeles fortsatte hun produsentarbeidet.
