Fernando Valenzuela (born November 1, 1960, Etchohuaquila, Mexico) is a Mexican professional baseball player whose career spanned 17 seasons in the major leagues of the United States. Valenzuela was discovered in 1977 by Los Angeles scout Corito Varona while playing in the Mexican League.
Fernando Valenzuela is a former pitcher who played for the Dodgers and the Orioles from 1980 to 1993. He won the NL Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, and Silver Slugger awards, and his number 34 was retired by the Dodgers in 2023.
