Josey joined Our Room as Office Coordinator in 2024. She manages the office space, social media and website, and supports with admin, finance and HR. She brings a range of experience including comms, web development, recovery and mental health support, SEND teaching, creative youth work & mentoring, music writing & production, and hospitality.
Working with The Royal Exhchange we started with trips to see shows, for many Men’s Room members, theatre was a new experience and only one or two had been to the Exchange. The Men’s Room is an arts, health and social care charity working with men and trans people who sex work, are homeless or both. We combine arts and creative practice with health and social care, providing space for practical help and one-to-one support, as well as opportunities for creative adventures.
The Men’s Room worked with multi-media artists, The Soup Collective’ over the winter to create a range of animations, projections and model work. This resulted in a cold night in the Northern Quarter where images of young men flying, tags and zombie were projected onto local buildings!
Merry F***ing Christmas. Merry F***ing Christmas was The Men’s Room contribtion to the festivities! Working alongside MASH and The Lifematters Drama Group, FACE IT, the Comedy Store was hired and an afternoon of devised performance took place, with workers and the young men alike putting on a alternative to the usual Christmas entertainment!
