And in that sort of role it is mostly a matter of "following procedure" and "doing as you are told". In politics it is often about making decisions based on changing circumstances.

I definitely still think he's a vast improvement on Corbyn in that he's actually much more electable and doesn't scare off swing voters/small C Conservatives, evident by Chesham's result.
