He used a Wal briefly ("Every Day I Write the Book" for example), and a Jerry Jones later on a bit, but it's that undeniable P sound he's most known for on the early Attractions stuff. Yeah, his original bass was stolen at his last gig with the Attractions.

Jan 11, 2014 · Bruce Thomas made them even moreso with his frequent avoidance of the root and musical wanderings. Some of the bass lines are as profound and memorable as the main melodies. Thomas (bass), Thomas (drums), Naïve, and Costello were the perfect storm.

(Don’t ask about the route UPS sent this poor thing on, which BassCentre had nothing to do with.) Changed the strings to Kalium balanced tension hybrids (original strings were way too zingy for me), and put a Tusc nut on it.

"Lipstick Vogue", "Party Girl", "Shabby and "Shabby Doll" are but a few of the Elvis Costello songs where Thomas shines.

So apart from upstaging my wife’s presents it’s been a great day here. I’ve only checked it over and tuned her up but I think that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
