Sep 9, 2013 · The Jquery.ajax documentation says that there is a flag called processData that controls whether this encoding is done automatically or not. The documentation says that it defaults to true, but that is not the behavior I observe when POST is used.

Apr 27, 2010 · 217. contentType is the HTTP header sent to the server, specifying a particular format. dataType is you telling jQuery what kind of response to expect. Expecting JSON, or XML, or HTML, etc. The default is for jQuery to try and figure it out. The $.ajax() documentation has full descriptions of these as well.
