If you're more of a modern MMO player who likes to mostly solo and do endgame, or are just interested in the story, retail will be more for you. The game will run like ass. It's a PS2 game that was hastily/awfully ported to PC. It never got a decent PC port.

The community in Final Fantasy xi and xiv are very good and host alot of friendly players unlike ESO and WOW, though bigger communities these games are also very mainstream and players are toxic and vile at times, but anyway each to their own.
