Le groupe de rock hollandais Ekseption, fondé en 1967, enregistre en 1969 la fameuse cinquième symphonie de Beethoven dans un style rock progressif .
Ekseption was a Dutch rock band active from 1967 to 1989, playing mostly-instrumental progressive rock and classical rock. The central character in the changing roster, and the only band member present on every album, was conservatory-trained trumpeter Rein van den Broek (10 September 1945 - 11 May 2015).
The 5th by Ekseption was written by Ludwig van Beethoven and was first performed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Ekseption released it on the single The 5th in 1969. It was covered by Louis Clark conducting The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Temple City Kazoo Orchestra, David Garrett, The Brian Setzer Orchestra and other artists.
