Jun 19, 2020 · Erotica is a very niche product, and generally speaking, the weirder it is, the better it does. While a medieval short romance story sounded great in my mind, a steamy novel about a girl’s naughty tryst with a lusty unicorn did infinitely better. Find a niche and stick with it. Then you need to make sure your story isn’t too short.

While Amazon allows authors to publish erotica, it does not allow content that is considered obscene, pornographic, or harmful to minors.
The short answer seems to be (having followed a lot of chat there) that making money from erotica seems to follow from identifying niches, optimizing blurb and covers for the niche, and gaming the Amazon system. And writing really, really fast. I.e. it looks like it's a coldly calculated and brutal enterprise for those who do well at it.
