Sheriff Peterkin was a recurring character throughout season one. She first appeared in the pilot when she came to John B's house to make a deal with him so that he wouldn't be taken into foster care on the mainland by DCS. She continuously tried to help John Bthroughout the series. She was manipulated by Ward Cameron on multiple occasions. The sheriff was responsible for Ward getting ahold of Big John's compass.
