Nicholas V. Pike is the main antagonist of the 1990 television series The Flash.
He was a corrupt member of the Central City Police Department before being exposed by Commander Jay Allen and defecting the force to form the Dark Riders, a motorcycle gang whose riders terrorized Central City with arsons and murders. Obsessed with getting back at the one who "ruined" his life, Pike decides to hunt down Allen and ruin him and "his" city. He is the arcehenemy of Barry Allen/The Flash.
Past
Around the 1980s, Nicholas V. Pike joined the police force of Central City, working with Jay Allen as partners in the motorcycle patrol, being an awesome rider. He even wrote a handbook to instruct any new officers. However, despite serving the Central City Police Department, Pike was secretly a crooked cop, often making dirty dealings involving narcotics or explosives. In 1987, Jay realized Pike's criminal activities, so he set up a decoy on Highway 61, allowing him to chase Nicholas down once he arrived there. During the chase, Pike accidentally crashed his motorcycle and got burned, horribly scarring himself in the process. Subsequently, Pike was arrested, sent to the prison hospital and was dishonorably discharged as a cop. However, Pike escaped from the prison hospital and formed a motorcycle gang known as the Dark Riders. They would terrorize Central City from 1987 to at least 1970, throwing bombs under vehicles or into buildings, causing thousands of fires, in addition to killing anyone on their way. Despite this, Nicholas didn't forget about Jay and planned to make him pay for the scars he received "thanks" to him.
The Flash
In "Pilot", following a bombing spree at Central City one night, Nicholas Pike and his Dark Riders ride back to their lair to celebrate after robbing the Central City Armory and killing its watcher. Despite most of his riders trusting him, a rider named Rick doubts about Pike and tries to defect, but Pike's girlfriend Lyla notifies him about this, leading Pike to have Rick brought before him, takes his money and then decides to have Rick executed in a similar way to how Gengis Khan disposed of his disloyal soldiers by tying them up to their horses so the horses could take them to some unknown fate: orders his men to tie Rick down to a motorcycle, sends it away and once Rick is far enough, blows him up. Some days later, following a robbery of the Dark Riders to the Central City Mall, the Central City Police Department becomes aware of Pike's involvement when he accidentally leaves a hair sample in the crime scene, allowing Jay, now a police captain, to point out his involvement after Detective Julio Mendez analyzes it. That night, Jay and Chief Arthur Cooper announce during a press conference that they will establish a task force to stop Pike and his bikers, but the Dark Riders appear, shoot and injure many of the reporters and officers there, including Chief Cooper. Back on his hideout, Pike watches the news and sees how Jay swears to catch Pike, leading him to finally decide to get back at Allen for exposing him years ago. Some hours later, the Dark Riders have Lyla distract Jay and a police escort guarding a truck full of medical supplies, allowing them to ambush the police. As the other cops are killed, Pike rams Jay and knocks him off the highway. Once there, Pike reveals himself to Jay and proceeds to personally murder him with his own hands. Jay's brother Barry, who had recently gained super speed powers thanks to a freak accident caused by S.T.A.R. Labs, arrives too late to save Jay, leading him to swear vengeance on Pike and bring him and his gang to justice with the assistance of Dr. Tina McGee, becoming the superheroic scarlet vigilante known as Flash. Meanwhile, Pike resumes his plans now that his vendetta against Jay Allen has been settled, sending his men after chemicals and explosives, but soon turns out that the Flash is interfering in his operations, sending most of his men, including Lyla, to prison. Angered at his plans being disrupted, Pike decides to break into the city's prison to free Lyla and his detained Dark Riders with the weapons he stole from the armory days ago. That night, the Dark Riders break into the Central City's prison, kill the guards and free their fellow riders and some unrelated inmmates before attacking the police under Pike's orders. However, the Flash comes to save the authorities and incapacitates the criminals with tear gas. Leaving Lyla behind, Pike takes a gas mask and runs away to to the swers, where his bike is waiting for him, desperate to escape. The Flash intercepts him and demands justice for Jay's murder, but suddenly suffers metabolic fatigue, leading Pike to beat him up with a pipe and drop him inside a hole for dead, but the Flash recovers before it's too late to catch him and resumes chasing Pike, who gets a rocket launcher to finally kill the scarlet speeder. However, the Flash avoids the rocket, fights Pike and sucks him into a tornado that throws him against some wires which electrocute him. The Flash then ties Pike up with the wire and leaves him for pickup by the police, who arrest him. In "Fast Forward", sometime before the episode, Nicholas hires a lawyer named Monica to get him released from prison earlier than expected under the pretext that it was the Flash the one who killed Jay Allen and framed her client from the murder. Consequently, Pike is released from prison and received by his “supporters" and a furious Barry Allen, who can't tolerate that his brother's murder can walk as a free man on the streets again. Pike thanks Monica for helping him out, but confides her that he doesn't intend to go straight but plan his revenge on the Flash for jailing him. Later on that day, Pike visits Barry in a restaurant, supposedly wanting to make amends with him, but provokes Barry into punching him by mocking Jay's death, leading Monica and the patrons to frame Barry for attacking Pike without provokation and getting Captain Cooper to reluctantly suspend him for thirty days after the news reporter Joe Kline makes it look like Barry was abusive to Nicholas. Before Barry can leave Central City, Pike announces his intentions to blow up the Devil's Gate Dam and flood Central City if he isn't paid a ransom of $10 million dollars. Said and done, the Flash goes to the dam to stop him, but it turns out that Pike has set a tracking missile on him, forcing the Flash to run away for his life while Pike, Monica and his assistant Victor Kelso watch from a van how the Flash runs and runs until he vanishes, apparently to his death. In reality, however, through the missile, the Flash somehow time-traveled ten years into the future, at the temporal cost of his powers. Once in the future, the Flash realizes that Pike has become Central City's fascist mayor, renamed the city as "Pike City", taken over the Central City Police Department as well as its criminal organizations, established the Shadowsmen as his law enforcement, ensuring that no one with blue passes leaves after 11 o'clock while allowing the people with red passes to leave their houses whenever they want. Whoever tries to refuse his rule, Pike has him/her arrested, taken to the Police Rehabilitation Center and subjected to have their brains fried and lobotomized for insubordination, leaving them as vegetables for life. A Liberation Underground resistance moment forms to retake Central City, movement joined by several of the Flash's relatives and allies, including Tina and Julio. Barry is fortunately helped by Julio, who now works as a garbageman and takes him to his home. Unfortunately, Pike becomes aware of their intentions thanks to cameras he installed in Julio's house. Barry and Julio are taken by the Shadowsmen to the Police Rehabilitation Center, where Barry is sentenced to be given a lobotomy under the charges of sedition and conspiracy while locking Julion inside a glass cell, but Barry ultimately makes use of the device to recharge his energy, incapacitate Pike by strapping him into the mind-frying chair and free Julio from his imprisonment until he faints, so Julio takes him to safety while Pike demands someone to untie him. Pike's regime is then attacked by the Liberation Underground movement, whose members, informed of what happened to the Flash, decide to break into the Police Rehabilitation Center so they can allow the Flash and Tina McGee to find a way for the former to time travel back to ten years ago and prevent Pike from ever taking over the city. Barry and Tina barricate inside and take out all of Pike's men, although Julio is killed by one of them as they seek a place to hide. Pike orders his men to enter into the building to stop the hero, but Flash recharges himself in time and travels back to the past before the rehabilitation center blows up, likely killing Pike along with several of his men in the process. Back to the present, the Flash deactivates the missile before merging with his past self and goes to stop Pike, who is trying to reactivate the missile. The Flash breaks into the van, ties Pike, Monica and Kelso up and orders Pike to confess where he hide the weapon he used to kill Jay Allen. Pike refuses, so the Flash reactivates the missile, making it track him down to the van to threaten Pike into confessing. Despite his refusal to admit the truth even though his henchmen are pleading him to say it, Pike ultimately reveals that he hide the weapon in a reservour outside the dam before the missiles strikes them up, leading the Flash to make the missile avoid them and go after the weapon. This later ensures Pike gets send back to prison, preventing him from ever enacting his tyranny over Central City before it could even begun. It's unkown what happened with Nicholas Pike afterwards, but it can be assumed that Pike stayed in prison for the rest of his life, for all his murders and his attempt to flood the city, especially with the new proof the Flash supplied the police with. In the Arrowverse crossover "Elseworlds", the Monitor comes to Earth-90 and wipes it out, leaving its Flash as the sole survivor, so if he was still alive by 2018, Pike was likely one of the thousands victims of the Monitor.
•Nicholas Pike was an invention of the 1990s The Flash television show: like most villains from the show, Pike wasn't present in the original comics and Professor Zoom is instead the Flash's archenemy.
•Ironically, Pike has some similarities to Eobard Thawne, the Arrowverse version of Professor Zoom, as they both kill a close relative of Barry Allen (Pike killed his brother and Thawne killed his mother), were responsible for leading Barry to become the Flash, caused the Flash to create an alternate timeline and both had involvement in a fascist government (Pike established one of his own while Thawne assisted in the Dark Arrow's one).
