Whitney doesn’t really stray from the typical plot beats I’ve seen in other Lifetime pop star biopics, but Yaya De Costa’s portrayal of Whitney Houston is absolutely outstanding, Deborah Cox’s imitations of Houston’s vocals are spot-on, and Angela Bassett’s direction is more than competent, especially considering the production limitations at hand.
