In the original Total Recall, Quaid/Hauser learns that Cohaagen has discovered an ancient Martian device designed to melt massive sheets of subterranean ice. It would terraform Mars into a habitable planet and cut Cohaagen out of his business selling all the colonists and visitors their air.
