Baker High School ( BHS) is a public high school in Baker City, Oregon, United States. It is part of the Baker School District 5J. History. In 1889, Baker City built a school housing 12 grades, the second public high school in Oregon. [3] . In 1989, the school was mostly destroyed in a fire, although no one was hurt.
History. Baker School (Now Baker High School), established in 1903, was originally a one classroom school for grades 1-12. In 1927, the school became an official part of the Mobile County Public School System. This change brought new buildings to the campus.
May 24, 2024 · The school was built in 1916 and according to records from Baker Technical Institute (BTI), was constructed by Ellis F. Lawrence, the founder of the School of Architecture at the University of Oregon. The 57,000 square foot building was home to Baker High School from 1917 to 1952 and Baker Middle School from 1953 to 2009.

Jun 28, 2022 · Since the 2016 flood, students from the high school have been housed at the nearby Baker Middle School campus. When it was built decades ago, the high school had a capacity of about 1,500 students. The renovated high school will have space for about 650 students.
