The Ritual is a British supernatural folk horror film starring Rafe Spall as one of four friends who encounter a jötunn in a Swedish forest. The film is based on a novel by Adam Nevill and was released in 2017 by eOne and Netflix.

- The Kirkby Stephen Stone. Towards the end of the film, the two surviving friends flee from the approaching monster and stumble upon a village in the midst of the forest.
- Jötunn. One of the villagers later tells the film’s protagonist, Luke (played by Rafe Spall), that the terrifying monster that has been violently dispatching his friends is, in fact, Loki’s bastard son.
- Creature Design. And speaking of the creature – it’s a pretty terrifying creation. Part elk, part human, its nightmarish form silhouetted against the burning village is one of the most horrifying – and indelible – images left in your mind after watching the film.
- Yes, It’s The Same Loki. Marvel fans’ ears would have perked up at the villager’s mention of Loki. The Norse god whose bastard son terrorizes the group of friends in The Ritual is the very same mythical figure who inspired the super-villain from the Marvel comics, played in the films by Tom Hiddleston.
