“Pimlico Academy is a coeducational 11-18 academy where young people in our local community are provided with an excellent education that enables them to achieve outstanding outcomes in a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
At our academy, we believe in creating inclusive environments that aim to meet the needs of all students. We want to ensure that our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision offers appropriate support for those facing barriers to their learning.
Designed in 1964-65 by John Bancroft of the Greater London Council’s architecture department for 1,725 pupils, Pimlico School was among the last of the LCC and Inner London Education Authority’s programme of large comprehensives.
It was designed in 1964 in the Architects’ Department of the Greater London Council under the leadership of John Bancroft; it opened six years later, in September 1970, and won awards in 1966 and 1972 for its architectural quality.
The Pimlico Connection launched in 1975 with Imperial students visiting Pimlico Comprehensive School once a week to help in science classes and arrange visits to the Science Museum and Imperial’s laboratories. Now known as the Pimlico Academy, Imperial still has close links with the school.
