Opened in September 1963, it is the second oldest high school in the Tustin Unified School District. Its name is derived from the Tustin Foothills, which is the pre-2005 name of the area of North Tustin.
Located in the heart of Orange County, Foothill High School opened in 1963 and is one of three comprehensive high schools in the Tustin Unified School District. Foothill is accredited through Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through 2025 and was named a California Gold Ribbon School in 2015.
In 1965, high school football was influenced by great coaches like Woody Hayes and Bear Bryant who emphasized fundamental, run oriented, “smash mouth” football. Foothill had a 9 game schedule, and won the league, but there were no playoff games then.
