Brian Russell De Palma ([de ˈpalma]; born September 11, 1940) is an American film director and screenwriter. With a career spanning over 50 years, he is best known for work in the suspense , crime and psychological thriller genres.
Jul 20, 2021 · Nearly everybody loves the original Star Wars, but director Brian De Palma was famously critical of the film when he first saw it, and even 40 years later he's not backing down.
For De Palma, the project was a personal disaster as well as he wound up clashing with both Smothers and Warner Brothers and was eventually fired before he could finish the film. De Palma completists looking upon it simply as a curiosity will find it to be hard going and for everyone else, it is pretty much unwatchable.
Brian De Palma may be down for the moment, but if his box office history has taught us anything, it is that he always returns with a major success that is remembered for years and years afterwards.
