- The answer depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a city with a vibrant culture and art scene, then Nancy is the better choice. But if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere with a mix of history and modernity, Metz is your destination. Either way, both cities are worth visiting.

Feb 5, 2024 · When it comes to choosing between Metz and Nancy, it ultimately depends on what you look for in a destination. Think of Nancy as an elegant, sophisticated city that blends UNESCO World Heritage Sites with Art Nouveau architecture.
Apr 1, 2023 · I would suggest staying in Metz , plus doing a day trip to Nancy. I've not visited Nancy. Metz is an old city, the remnants of the ramparts attest to that. The city's highly strategic location in Lorraine caused it to be fought over in 1870, 1918, 1944 , not to mention in the 18th century.
Looking to take a day trip from Strasbourg to either Nancy or Metz. I’m leaning more towards Nancy over Metz but I’m open to both. I’ve read that doing a little bit of both is possible. The aim is to wander and see the architectural sights of the old town, with not much desire to go into museums.

Nancy: sights, highlights & things to do Our next stop is Nancy. One of my good friends is a major fan of the city, so my expectations are high! Between 1870 and the First World War a lot of artists and French, who don’t want to be part of Germany, move to Nancy. Nancy becomes a very rich city and you can still see that in the stunning architecture...
At the magestic square Place Stanislas, you can watch a Saint Nicolas light show every night in December. So cool. The French are experts in street theatre. There are fantasy vehicles driving around the square and during the official Saint Nicolas parade, there was a giant dragon, including John Snow (Game of Thrones) leading the festivities. Check...
I loved thewine tasting at Domain Lelièvre, just outside of Nancy. Two brothers run this vineyard with a lot of love, that you taste in the wine. My personal favorite is the Brut! I bought a bottle for my parents and for myself…. In the Lorraine you will find a lot of special glassware. Glassblowingis a popular craftmanship here. You can try a work...
Jun 1, 2023 · Nancy and Metz both deserve time but do more than just meander or walk around aimlessly in both places. Two days might be enough to gain an introduction to the cities but they both do deserve more time. Personal preferences have much to do in making these vital decisions.
