Long Eaton is a town in the Erewash district of Derbyshire, England, just north of the River Trent, about 6 miles (9.7 km) south-west of Nottingham and 9 miles (14 km) south-east of Derby. Long Eaton is a small town lying on the River Trent around 8 miles east of Derby. The town has a history stretching back to the 7th century, but was for many centuries naught but a sleepy agricultural village.
EATON (Long), a township-chapelry in Sawley parish, Derby; at the verge of the county, on the Erewash river and canal, and on the Erewash Valley railway, 8 miles SW by W of Nottingham. It has a station on the railway, and a post office under Nottingham.
A large town by the side of the River Trent, between the cities of Derby and Nottingham, with a history dates back to before the 7th century. The town began to prosper from the 19th century onwards with the onset of the Industrial Revolution.
