  1. May 13, 2022 · This movie is 111 minutes long, but it feels even longer when dealing with this odd couple. A sudden, brutally violent plot twist late in the film does little to make either of these characters watchable. Oddly enough, the most absurd plotline of “The Last Victim” is the one that kind of works. If nothing else, it provides a level of gonzo ...

  3. Our review: Parents say: (1 ): Kids say: Not yet rated Rate movie. A neo-Western with a bit of a bite, this crime drama gives its fascinating characters -- and, amazingly, the audience -- credit for being smart enough to follow its twisty checkerboard jumps. Set entirely in micro-size towns in New Mexico, The Last Victim has a vivid atmosphere ...

  4. May 13, 2022 · At least, not intentionally. The latest in a seemingly endless line of neo-noir thrillers with a neo-western gloss, “The Last Victim” plays like the work of people who watched “Blood Simple ...

  5. Jun 16, 2022 · Jim Morazzini. Despite its title, The Last Victim isn’t a remake of the 1976 Tanya Roberts slasher film. In fact, it isn’t a horror film at all. It’s actually a hybrid western and film noir set in modern-day New Mexico. The film opens as Jake (Ralph Ineson, The Green Knight, The Witch) makes a late-night stop at Hog Heaven, a roadside BBQ ...

  6. May 11, 2022 · The strongest of The Last Victim’s three intersecting storylines centers on Susan (Ali Larter), who flees from Jake and his fellow goons (played by Kyle Schmid, Matt Brown, and Paul Belsito) after they shoot and kill her husband. As she seeks refuge in a remote nature reserve, the film turns into a survivalist thriller, building suspense from the volatile psychological state of Larter’s ...

  8. The first 90 minutes of this movie aren't horrible, but it's very slow without much of value. It has trouble investing you in the story or characters even though it spends lots of time trying to. In the last 15 minutes it gets really stupid. And you realize how little you care about the outcome. (1 viewing, 5/20/2022)
