The movie as a whole isn't bad for a sequel and has some funny moments amongst the schmaltz. Maybe not quite as enjoyable as the first and it still has those 'of their time'...

I knew someone would reply referencing the history of black-face. Obviously, minstrel shows were offensive caricatures. Short Circuit 2 isn't in the same ball park. It's ridiculous to suggest that because of minstrel shows no-one can ever act as a member of a different race ever again.
There are hapless bad guys, pratfalls, trap doors, and parachutes. The exception is a serious, lengthy attack on Robot Johnny 5 near the conclusion. He is severely smashed, battered, and broken, in danger of total memory failure (i.e. death).

Short Circuit 2 feels almost like a live action Disney animated movie, in a good way. It tells a universal story about an misunderstood outsider balancing his unique abilities and limitations versus his desire to be treated as an equal, somewhat like The Hunchback of Notre Dame or Ratatouille.

Short Circuit 2 (1988) is a bad movie. No if ands or buts about it. Why was this movie made in the first place? I didn't realize that Short Circuit was such a "huge" success. I mean it was an okay film but there was no need for a sequel, especially one that smells like a bad of old bait. Dude this movie reeks.
