- Surprisingly effective sci-fi horror thriller about alien abduction, Dark Skies is one of Blumhouse's better films, with some great performances and solid effects on its small budget. It falls just short of being great with a pretty pedestrian script, but it's still solid PG-13 horror, and one I would revisit a few times a year.

Dark Skies is a 2013 American science fiction horror film written and directed by Scott Stewart, produced by Jason Blum under his Blumhouse Productions banner, and starring Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo and J. K. Simmons.
Dark Skies is a very nicely made film, the acting is good, and the story works rather well. Some very sinister moments, including the scene with the birds, and the obligatory person in a garden scene.
With Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo, Kadan Rockett. As the Barrett family's peaceful suburban life is rocked by an escalating series of disturbing events, they come to learn that a terrifying and deadly force is after them, one which may have arrived from beyond the stars.
