1. Eat at a Bouchon Lyonnais
Bouchons are restaurants where you can eat typical Lyonnaise specialties. You can find them easily in the area of Saint Jean in Vieux Lyonbut you can find them in other areas of Lyon too. Food in Lyon is excellent so Bouchons are some of the best places to visit in Lyon France. Make sure you try all the local specialities, like Cervelle de Canut (French cheese with herbs, shallots, oil and salt) or Gateau de Volaille(chicken liver cake).
2. Stroll Around Vieux Lyon
The best Bouchons in Lyon are found inVieux Lyon (old city), so if you have tried a Bouchon in Saint Jean, you were in Vieux Lyon. This part of the old city of Lyon was where the Canut (silk workers)were based. The area of Saint Jean, Saint Paul and Saint Georges are part of Vieux Lyon. Not only that but I’ve been to Lyon several times. From its ancient Roman amphitheater to its secret passageways or traboules, there isn’t a place I haven’t been to.

- Day 1: Morning. 9 a.m.: After arriving at Lyon International Airport or at one of the two main train/TGV stations (Part-Dieu and Perrache), head straight for your hotel to drop off your bags.
- Day 1: Afternoon. 2 p.m.: After lunch, take the Passerelle Saint-Georges bridge across the Saône River to explore Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon). After admiring views from the graceful footbridge, visit the Cathédrale Saint-Jean, a Roman and Gothic-style cathedral built between the 12th and 15th centuries.
- Day 1: Evening. 6:30 p.m.: Head back down the hill (by foot or Funicular) into Old Town and settle in for dinner. If you're looking for something traditional, reserve a table at Bouchon Les Lyonnais; set in a vaulted stone cellar, it's one of the city's most popular bouchons.
