      • Highland Park 18 Year Old is a masterclass in balance. It manages to be both complex and approachable, offering enough depth to satisfy seasoned whisky enthusiasts while remaining accessible to those newer to the world of aged spirits. The interplay between sweet and smoky, fruit and oak, creates a dram that's greater than the sum of its parts.

  2. 2 days ago · Highland Park 18 continues to prove itself time and time again, being a dram anyone can enjoy. Color: Burnt Gold. From the time I saw those nice slender legs streaming down the side of the glass to the long and warming finish, Highland Park 18 was excellent in almost every aspect.

  3. Oct 1, 2019 · Comprised of approximately 45 percent first-fill, ex-Sherry casks and aged in mostly European oak, Highland Park 18-year-old is one of those malts you can’t help but love. Even if you’re not a fan of peated whiskies, I recommend you give it a try.

  4. Sep 5, 2024 · This exquisite dram from Scotland's northernmost distillery offers a complex journey for the senses, balancing elements of the rugged island terroir with nearly two decades of careful spirit maturation in top quality casks.

  5. I'm surprised by the 82 rating, because to me, HP18 is about as good as it gets (I think I gave it 95). May I ask what are your 90+ point rated scotches? Thanks for doing the review. I really enjoyed it and it will give me more to think about when I pour myself a glass this evening!

  6. Jul 7, 2019 · Best part of Highland Park 18 yrs is that deep smoke on the palate and mostly, in the finish. This dram has great depth in the smokiness and I like to think, it is HP18’s “signature move” . An asset, which very few whiskies have.

  7. Sep 5, 2017 · Highland Park 18 is commonly regarded as a classic – for good reason – it’s refined, complex and with plenty of HP distillery character. The balance of fruit with heathery peat is both enticing on the nose and palate and exceptionally accomplished throughout the whole development.

  8. Jan 26, 2022 · I’ve covered Highland Park before, and in my pairing of its 12 against the Caol Ila 12, it seemed to clearly make its mark, even among the marketing of all the “Viking” symbols. The 18-year-old bottle is subtitled Viking Pride, and it is bottled at the ‘standard’ 43%; however, there’s no colouring at all in this £100 bottle.
