Cahill, United States Marshal was directed by Andrew V. McLaglen and written by Harry Julian Fink and Rita M. Fink. Perhaps recognizing the new limitations of their star, they spend a good deal of time trying to turn a conventional Western into a children-in-peril movie.

Sep 30, 2013 · The acting is generally pretty reasonable: John Wayne is good (although the role was evidently written to cover his exact acting range) and the two sons (played by Danny Grimes and Clay O'Brien) are quite likeable and, unlike most kids in films, not actually that annoying.
Cahill U.S. Marshal is a good Western, but as I was watching it I kept wondering if the only reason it made it to the theaters was because of John Wayne. Honestly, it feels more like a made-for-TV movie.
