Jul 15, 1994 · The movie is 135 minutes long, and at 120, without some of the hotel room escapade, it would be a lot better. The director, James Cameron, is a master of action (he worked with Schwarzenegger on " Terminator 2: Judgment Day "), and when he's doing his thing, no one does it better.
True Lies is a massive guilty pleasure for me. T2 is also about as good a film as it could have been. Aliens, I completely agree with you; it's just feeble compared to Scott's original. Avatar and The Abyss have the same problems, and Titanic is just unbearable.
TRUE LIES effectively combines a thriller with a domestic comedy, and that's a tough feat to pull off. The conspiracy plot, about Arab extremists and stolen nuclear warheads, is not especially complex, but it provides a jumping-off point for several exciting chase scenes, shootouts, and major explosions.
