The game features a number of licensed vehicles from automobile manufacturers that the player can control, unlike those seen in Grand Theft Auto, which are fictional. The majority of the vehicles in the game are made by MG Rover Group , Jensen Motors , Saab , PSA Peugeot Citroën , [ 7 ] [ 8 ] Fiat , and Lexus , [ 3 ] along with a number of others.

The Getaway is a game often compared to the likes of Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. However, the comparisons are unwarranted. While the idea is the same, The Getaway offers you a storyline and depth that just can't be found anywhere else in video-gaming today. Play as both ex-riminal Mark Hammond and police officer DC Carter as you attempt to bring down the London crime-lord Charlie Jolson. Being forced to play as both characters, you experience the same events from both the perspective of an ex-criminal and a police officer, which adds extra depth to this already deep game.
The beauty of the game is in its style. If you're familiar with the Guy Ritchie film Snatch, then you'll know what the game is like as far as style. And if you're into the movie, you'll be into the game. It's almost like you're playing a Guy Ritchie film, and that's not a bad thing. And the entire city of London has been genuinely re-created for the game, from the roads and buildings, to the landmarks and locations.
