- Stubborn Tub Spout
A banded coupling, similar to a No-Hub coupling", is the one that should be used, but an all rubber Fernco type will not deteriorate in this person's lifetime. It may have other problems, but deterioration will not be one of them.
Copper and PVC fittings can last 50 or more years. Even ProPress fittings have a warranty of 50 years (but who knows since they are so new). Does anyone have long term SharkBite experiences?
Jun 10, 2023 · Once dry the concrete makes it's own shield around the coupling and it is unlikely to crush or be disturbed. Additionallly, since this pipe is not under pressure there is little likelihood of a leak. Will the concrete degrade the rubber? Not likely in decades, if not after a century.

May 10, 2018 · All agreed rubber lasts practically forever and the stainless steel screws will also last. The BD fernco got slathered in marine sika flex as well as the fernco connecting the skimmer line. Both skimmer and BD themselves are sunk in concrete so fix would be nigh impossible.
