Feb 12, 2012 · The ending is Landon's closure after she's gone. He only says he believes in miracles, not that a miracle occurred with Jamie's health. I think he's talking about himself - he believes in miracles because of how drastically his life was changed for the better for having met Jamie.
Jun 30, 2020 · In the final moments of the movie, Jamie passes away and the film takes a time jump. This time jump reveals that Jamie’s words left a deep mark on Landon and he still lives by everything that she taught him. However, Landon still struggles to hold onto his faith in God.
Landon soon discovers that purpose and asks Jamie to marry him, even in her weakened state. She agrees, and just as in her vision of her wedding day, hundreds of guests turn out for her wedding. Jamie's slow, painful walk down the aisle is, indeed, "a walk to remember."
The entire scene at the orphanage is ripe for Landon's sarcasm, and yet he packs it away for the duration of his visit. His sarcastic tone will surface one more time in Chapter 7, but he is quickly moving from a sarcastic observer of life to an empathetic participant in it.
