Stephen Lawrence Schwartz (born March 6, 1948) is an American musical theatre composer and lyricist. In a career spanning over five decades, Schwartz has written hit musicals such as Godspell (1971), Pippin (1972), and Wicked (2003).
Four and a half decades later, with Wicked about to join The Prince of Egypt in reopening after the Covid closures, and Charing Cross Theatre’s psychedelic production of Pippin extending its run to 3 October 2021, the legendary musical theatre composer is about to re-create that feat here in London.
