Dhrupad is the more meditative, ancient form of music and is slower and more fixed, while khayal is more free flowing, faster, and imaginative. I’ll be mostly focusing on khayal, (since that’s what I listen to the most : ), but you’ll find a few sprinklings of Dhrupad.
