Step back in time with a visit to Fort Randolph, a modern day reproduction of an American colonial-era fort! In 1776, Captain Matthew Arbuckle marched a Virginia force to the confluence of the Great Kanawha and Ohio Rivers.
Fort Randolph, one of the most important military outposts of the Trans-Allegheny frontier, was located on the north bank of the Kanawha River at its mouth, at Point Pleasant. The fort was constructed in 1776 under the direction of Capt. Matthew Arbuckle, the militia commander at the site, and garrisoned by a company of troops sent from Pittsburgh.
Fort Randolph. This first fort stood on the apex of the upper angle formed by the confluence of the great Kanawha and Ohio Rivers, it was built in October arid November of 1774 and named Fort Blair after John Blair, by Captain William Russell who was both the designer and builder.
