- The Great Gabbo (1929) was originally released by Sono Art-World Wide Pictures, with certain sequences were presented in Multicolor. However, current prints, restored by the Library of Congress and released by Kino International on DVD, exist only in black-and-white.

The opening credits mention "Color sequences by Multicolor", but those sequences are now either lost or have survived only in black-and-white form. Multicolor, based on the earlier Prizma color process, went out of business in 1932; its assets were bought by Cinecolor .
However, current prints, restored by the Library of Congress and released by Kino International on DVD, exist only in black-and-white. Most, perhaps all, VHS and DVD releases of the film have the color sequences in black and white.

Color sequence(s) have not survived, except in black and white. The "Gaga Bird" production number is presumed lost. The failure of the original copyright holder to renew the film's copyright resulted in it falling into public domain, meaning that virtually anyone could duplicate and sell a VHS/DVD copy of the film.
The article went on to suggest that Multicolor would make quality color photography available to all levels of the motion picture industry. To date, the Multicolor sequences in this film have only survived in black and white.
