We took the Santorini Palace which has the perfect island hopper options through the Aegean Islands (Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, etc.), and to Crete. I highly recommend Minoan Lines for ferry travel to the Greek Islands.

Accomodations are great, food is good and snack bars are clean and reasonanably priced. The only detraction is their winter schedule is routed thru Heraklion which adds 3 hours to the journey, but the lower fare price appeals to me. I recommend Minoan Lines highly and will use them again. Read more.

- Hellenic Seaways – Athens to several groups of islands in the Aegean Sea. Like Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways is operated under the umbrella company called Attica Group.
- Golden Star Ferries – Athens to the Cyclades. Golden Star Ferries currently operate two conventional ferries, one of which has cabins. They also have four high-speed ferries, two of which can carry vehicles.
I recently travelled on a Minoan Lines ferry from Igoumenitsa to Ancona after having a bad experience the month before with a competitor. Minoan was very good generally, the embarkment process was straight forward and cabins were adequate.

I travel on Greek inter-island ferries several times and year and over many years have had a variety of adventures. The Minoan Lines route from Pireaus to Chania is rather new to me since ANEK was the sole provider until a few years ago.
The domestic destinations of Minoan Lines' routes are Piraeus, Heraklion and Milos. At the same time, ferries departing from Igoumenitsa and Corfu reach the coastal town of Ancona in Italy.
