Ron Greenwood. Ronald Greenwood CBE (11 November 1921 – 9 February 2006) was an English football player and manager. He is best known for being manager of the England national football team from 1977 until 1982, as well as being manager of West Ham United for 13 years, a time during which the club gained much of its fame.
Ron Greenwood was a visionary manager who led West Ham to the first major trophies in the Club’s history and England to the 1980 European Championship and 1982 World Cup. He was a CBE and a FA Hall of Fame inductee who died in 2006.
