Robert L. Lippert (1909–1976) was a successful exhibitor, owning a chain of movie theaters in California and Oregon. He was frustrated that the Hollywood studios concentrated on making big, expensive pictures that commanded premium rental fees.
Lippert went from cinema manager to owning a chain of cinemas in Alameda in 1942, [ 1] during the peak years of theater attendance. [ 4] Lippert's theaters in Los Angeles adopted a "grindhouse" policy, screening older and cheaper films for a continuous 24 hours with an admission price of 25 cents.
A list of films produced or released by the American distributor Lippert Pictures. Founded by Robert Lippert in 1945, the company's initial releases were often known as "Screen Guild Productions". Later it enjoyed success by co-producing and releasing films by the British studio Exclusive Films.
By the mid-'40s Lippert owned an extensive chain of theaters in California and Oregon. Around 1948 he decided to begin making his own pictures to show in his theaters. His first picture was Last of the Wild Horses (1948) , which was also the only one he ever directed.

Jul 3, 2011 · During 1947-49, Lippert Pictures, and its predecessor, Screen Guild Productions, announced titles to trade publications become available in the “next season,” implying they were in production, or close to it, or “in preparation,” which was another way of saying little, if anything had been prepared other than the main title.
