In 2001 she was the Guild of Food Writers’ Food Journalist of the Year. She is the author of several books on Scottish food, including her acclaimed Scottish Cookery. Her time is divided between a small village on the Isle of Arran and an even smaller village on the shores of Loch Torridon.
She is author of 15 cook books, including Sue Lawrence’s Book of Baking , A Cooks Tour of Scotland, Scottish Kitchen, Scots Cooking and The Sunday Times Cookbook. Having recently branched into Fiction, her debut novel “Fields of Blue Flax” was published in 2015 and her 2nd novel “Window on the Tay” will be published in 2016.
When it was initially published, Scottish Cookery was one of the first books of its kind with an ingredients-based format, highlighting Scotland’s rich and varied natural larder: vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood and game.
