Our teams proudly compete in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) under NCAA’s Division II. Rollins offers dozens of varsity teams competing in sports such as basketball, lacrosse, soccer, sailing, and even water ski competitions. Our variety of athletic programs means the Tars compete year-round, so there’s always a reason to cheer.

Rollins College, as Florida’s oldest post-secondary institution, is famous for its strong academics, beautiful campus, and many of its more successful Division II sport teams.
The Rollins Tars football team represented Rollins College in the sport of college football. They first completed in 1904, and last competed in 1949. History. The 1908 team claims a state championship, and the 1940 team won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association title. Jack McDowall was a prominent athletic director.

But since football has developed into more of a science than a fight, the small college is rapidly assuming its rightful place on the gridiron.”

The Tars, an archaic name for a sailor, [1] compete as members of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) for all 23 varsity sports. Rollins has been a member of the SSC since 1975.
