iPhone comes with ringtones that play for incoming calls. You can also purchase more ringtones in the iTunes Store. Assign a different ringtone to a contact. Open the Contacts app on your iPhone. Select a contact, tap Edit, tap Ringtone, then choose a ringtone. Turn the ringer on or off.

- Ringer on iPhone Not Working? Turn Your iPhone Ringer On. If your iPhone is not ringing, it is likely because your iPhone is in Silent mode. The first thing to check is the Ring/Silent button on the left side of your iPhone.
- Check the Volume If Your iPhone Won't Ring. If turning off iPhone Silent mode doesn't work and your iPhone is still not ringing, make sure that the volume on your iPhone is turned up sufficiently for you to hear the ringer.
- Check to See If Do Not Disturb Is On. If Do Not Disturb or another Focus mode is on, it will prevent your iPhone from making any sounds when you receive calls or other notifications.
- Check to See If Your iPhone Is Connected to Headphones or Speakers. If your iPhone ringer is not working after you have tried the above solutions, you may want to check to see if your iPhone is playing sounds through another device like a Bluetooth speaker or a set of headphones.
- Check Your iPhone Isn't on Mute. If your iPhone is ringing but doesn't make any sound, it's probably on mute (also called silent mode). You can toggle mute on or off using the flip switch on the left-hand side of the device.
- Disable Focus Modes like Do Not Disturb. You can use Focus to prevent distractions from interrupting you while you work, exercise, drive, or sleep. Focus can be set up under Settings > Focus and controlled using the "Focus" button in Control Center (swipe down from the top-right-hand corner of your iPhone's screen).
- Check You're Reachable via Cellular or Wi-Fi Calls. Not having cellular reception will prevent people from being able to reach you, so consider that a possibility if you're not receiving calls.
- Make Sure Your Mobile Plan is Active. If you have a pre-paid mobile plan that rolls over month-to-month, you could find yourself without service if a payment bounces or fails.
