Nearly 400,0000 German war prisoners landed on American shores between 1942 and 1945, after their capture in Europe and North Africa. They bunked in U.S. Army barracks and hastily constructed camps across the country, especially in the South and Southwest.
On the 47th day, Japanese sailors find and capture Louie and Phil. Now prisoners of war, Louie and Phil are imprisoned on Kwajalein Atoll. The American airmen are interrogated for information on newer bombers and the Norden bombsight. Louie states they flew older models and draws a rendering of a Philco radio.
