We are an international Roman Catholic congregation of religious brothers. We were founded in 1802 in the city of Waterford in Ireland by Blessed Edmund Rice. Our founder was beatified in Rome in 1996 by Pope John Paul II. Our charism is "forming Christ in the young".
The Congregation of Presentation Brothers (Latin: Fratres Presentationis Mariae; English: "Brothers of the Presentation of Mary"; abbreviated F.P.M.) is an international Catholic congregation of laymen founded in 1802 in Waterford, Ireland, by a local Irish businessman, Edmund Ignatius Rice, now Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice.
We are an international, Catholic congregation of religious brothers, founded in 1802 in Ireland by Blessed Edmund Rice. Edmund was beatified in 1996 by Pope St John Paul II. We work today in Canada, England, Ghana, Grenada (West Indies), Ireland, Nigeria, and the United States.
The Present. Throughout the two hundred years since the Congregation was founded, membership has been predominantly Irish. The Brothers relied to a great extent on vocations from Ireland for the development of the Congregation overseas. There is now an increase in membership from other countries.
Today the Presentation Brothers live and work in Ireland, England, Canada, the United States of America, Peru, the West Indies and Ghana. Blessed Edmund Rice is honoured in the Mardyke in Cork where a special garden, honouring the women associated with him, has been developed.
